Little Baby Hyatt

Jason and I are happy to announce that Little Baby Hyatt will be arriving in November!

I know it's been a LONG time since I last blogged, but now I have reason to keep up with it! My plan is to do weekly updates and bi-weekly belly pictures to chronicle my pregnancy. I've done a few already, so let's get caught up!

We found out we were pregnant on February 25, when I was just 4 weeks along. Being the anglophile that I am, I am THRILLED the baby is due on Guy Fawkes Day! :)

I started my bi-weekly belly pictures at 8 weeks, after our first baby doctor appointment, where we saw our tiny little nugget for the first time.

At 9 weeks I started filling out a weekly pregnancy survey, so here's the first one:

How far along: 9 weeks
Total Weight Gain: I haven't weighed except for at the doctor's and I didn't want them to tell me. Ignorance is bliss!
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I have resorted to the hair tie trick to get my pants to button.
Sleep: I 'm exhausted all the time, so I take naps every day, which is good since I get up to pee every night!
Stretch Marks: None yet, and I hope it stays that way!
Highlight of the Week: Making our first baby purchase, the Britax B-Agile travel system. Jason's parents actually bought it for us (woo hoo!) and it makes it seem so much more real to have baby stuff in the house!
Missing: Energy. I feel like a lazy, chubby slob who sleeps all the time and never cooks dinner or cleans. Luckily Jason is extremely supportive and says I need to be easier on myself.
Movement: Not yet, although they say it technically IS moving, but I just won't be able to feel it for a while.
Cravings: Dairy products--milk, grilled cheese sandwiches, milkshakes
Food Aversions: Nothing specific, but if I don't take my medicine every day I'll get sick no matter what I eat.
Symptoms: bloated and extremely exhausted
Showing yet: I think I am, but I hope it's not as obvious to others as it is to me!
Gender: I feel like it's a girl, but we won't know until sometime between 15-22 weeks at our ultrasound
Labor Signs: No way!
Belly Button In or Out: In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Most looking forward to: Being able to share the news
Milestones: Baby is one inch long this week

How Far Along: 10 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 4 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, other than a belly band from Motherhood Maternity to help keep my unbuttoned pants up.
Sleep: It's hard to get comfy at night and I always wake up hot and thirsty, so I keep a glass of water on the night stand. I also wake up once a night to pee.
Stretch Marks: None yet! I bought some cocoa butter lotion to use to keep them hopefully at bay.
Highlight of the Week: Saturday I spent time with Mom getting a pedicure, eating Baskin Robbins ice cream and going to a friend's baby shower. It was nice to spend time with her and I felt good that day too.
Missing: Being able to wear whatever I want. Since it's too early for maternity clothes I'm having to get creative with the clothes I have. I'm still trying to hide the ever-growing bump!
Movement: Not yet, but I read that now it can do flips in there! I can't feel it though.
Cravings: Still craving milk and ice cream. I also drink a lot of orange juice and I like to eat Michelina's buffalo-style chicken snackers for lunch. They're like pizza rolls kind of. Also, I know I need to drink more water, but I don't like it!
Food Aversions: I'm not big on meat. I also learned that pizza rolls and orange juice, while tasty on their own, make me throw up if consumed together.
Symptoms: Still tired, although I am starting to get a little energy back I think. The main thing I've noticed this week is that my nausea comes in the evenings. I ran out of Zofran, so I switched to Phenergan, but I've only taken it twice and it hasn't helped at all. Lately I've just been trying to bear the nausea with no meds.
Showing yet: I can tell there's a bump there. It's getting harder and harder to hide it!
Gender: too early to tell
Labor Signs: No way!
Belly Button In or Out: In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Most looking forward to: Being able to share the news
Milestones: nothing really this week

How Far Along: 11 weeks
Total Weight Gain: I actually lost weight this week, bringing my total weight gain to around 2 pounds.
Maternity Clothes: I ordered some pants, but they haven't come in yet.
Sleep: I get HOT at night now. I have to have a glass of water by my bed because I wake up so thirsty at night.
Stretch Marks: Still nothing yet. I need to remember to use my lotion though.
Highlight of the Week: I had lunch with my best friend Sarah on Saturday; it was really good to see her!
Missing: Feeling good. I took those first couple of weeks for granted when I still felt fine. Now I feel sick every day :(
Movement: Still can't feel anything.
Cravings: I still eat the Michelina's buffalo-style chicken snackers for lunch almost every day. I've also started craving popsicles.
Food Aversions: Nothing in particular makes me queasy, but when I'm going to be sick it'll happen no matter what I've eaten. Animal crackers, grilled cheese, and cereal have all ended up in the potty this week just to name a few things.
Symptoms: Nausea in the morning and evening every day.
Showing yet: I can see it, but I don't know if other people can yet. It's definitely there though because I can't button my pants!
Gender: still too early to tell
Labor Signs: not time for all that yet
Belly Button In or Out: In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Most looking forward to: FINALLY being able to tell everyone when I get to 12 weeks next week!
Milestones: According to my pregnancy books and apps, the baby is officially a fetus this week!

At our 12 week appointment we got to hear the baby's heartbeat! It was beating so fast! I'll never forget that moment when it finally started to feel real to me. One of the happiest moments of my life for sure.

How Far Along: 12 weeks
Total Weight Gain: about 3 or 4 pounds, I'd guess--I haven't weighed yet this week
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my maternity skinny jeans for the first time today! Yay!
Sleep: My new thing is waking up around 5am and not being able to fall back asleep for my last precious hour of sleep :(
Stretch Marks: Still nothing yet. Hallelujah!
Highlight of the Week: hearing the baby's heartbeat at our appointment yesterday!
Missing: nothing, really--I am finally starting to enjoy being pregnant
Movement: nada
Cravings: Frozen bean and cheese burritos and cheese pizza were my two favorite foods this week. It seems like grains and dairy are my staples, whether that's milkshakes, cereal, pizza, burritos, grilled cheese sandwiches or whatever; they all seem to be basically bread and/or cheese. Very healthy...not!
Food Aversions: Nothing in particular still. I only threw up one day last week, so I'm hoping it is going away!
Symptoms: My face is still breaking out unfortunately and I still feel sickly and tired most evenings, but it does seem to be improving.
Showing yet: I'd say yes. There is definitely more there than just bloat. It's hard and it sticks out and I can't suck it in. It's a baby!
Gender: still too early to tell, but if the fast heartbeat means anything, then I think it's a girl
Labor Signs: no way!
Belly Button In or Out: In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Most looking forward to: telling our PCG tonight and going public after that

How Far Along: 13 weeks
Total Weight Gain: I haven't weighed, so I don't know. I don't like to see the scale rise, so I stay away!
Maternity Clothes: I'm loving my skinny jeans! They are so much more comfortable than squeezing into my pre-pregnancy jeans that I had to keep buttoned with a hair tie.
Sleep: I still wake up hot and thirsty in the middle of the night, so I drink the water that I keep by my bed, which then causes me to wake up later to pee. It's not a very fun process.
Stretch Marks: still none and still hoping they stay away
Highlight of the Week: Finding out that we get to go to Baby Belly Spa to find out the gender in just 3 more weeks! Thanks Mom and Dad!
Missing: nothing really
Movement: Nothing yet, but I should be able to feel the baby move in a few more weeks
Cravings: same old, same old--pizza, pizza rolls, bagel bites, anything with bread and cheese! Still eating my good ol' buffalo chicken snackers for lunch most days. Now that I feel better I'm trying to drink more water too.
Food Aversions: Not to jinx myself, but I think I'm out of the woods here. Nothing in particular sounds nasty to me other than things I never liked in the first place
Symptoms: I'm proud to say I haven't thrown up in 10 days!!! That's a record! Right now my main symptom is that my face is still breaking out, which sucks, but at least I'm not puking!
Showing yet: Yep! I'm proud of my little bump!
Gender: I still think it's a girl, but we'll know for sure soon.
Labor Signs: nope
Belly Button In or Out: In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Most looking forward to: finding out the gender
Milestones: Baby is 3 inches long!

That's all for now, but I'll be back next week with my 14 week survey and belly pic!

You sound and look wonderfully healthy and normal to me!

A friend told me when I was pregnant, "Embrace the pregnancy! The body changes, the hormones, the exhaustion, the joy, all of it! Just embrace and enjoy it! You're growing a little miracle!"

I used Palmer's Cocoa Butter for Stretch Marks and I didn't get any, so if you don't come up with a better plan, keep using it!

  2. Thanks for the encouragement! I've been using some type of cocoa butter, but I really want to get some official Palmer's. I'm really hoping I can keep the stretch marks far away!
