30 Weeks

How Far Along: 30 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 31 pounds...que sera sera
Maternity Clothes: Same old, same old
Sleep: I've commandeered Jason's feather pillow to use to prop my belly up with at night, so I'm doing a little better. I've accepted that it's just going to get worse from here on out, but it's really not too bad.
Stretch Marks: Still nothing!
Highlight of the Week: Despite having to take the dreaded 3 hour Gestational Diabetes test yesterday, it was a really good day. Jason prayed for me when I woke up which started the day off on a good note and then the nurse who took my blood was incredibly nice and got me all set up in the waiting room on the couch with some sheets and my pillow so I could rest in between the hourly pricks. After the test was over I was told not to go back to work, but to eat something and go home and rest. So, I met Jason at his office for lunch, which is always nice, and then on a whim I stopped at Starbucks to see if they had pumpkin spice yet (since it very well could have been my last chance to get one if I end up having GD). The lady there was really nice and made me one even though the official release date wasn't until today. Then to make it even sweeter, it was free! I literally could have cried; I was so happy and thankful. It was just so nice of her and I really, really appreciated it. I didn't expect to be able to get one at all, and especially not for free! I was legitimately emotional as I left because of how nice she was to me. Then, to top off a great afternoon, I got home, watched Harry Potter, sipped my pumpkin spice frappucino and relaxed. It was exactly what I needed!
Missing: What I really miss is being able to eat what I want without worrying about potentially having gestational diabetes :( I should find out my results today. I'll keep you all posted!
Movement: He's moving a ton these days! The other day Jason and I could clearly see his FOOT poking straight up out of my belly!
Cravings: Nothing in particular
Food Aversions: None
Symptoms: I really don't have much to complain about. My fingers are a little swollen, especially when I go outside to walk, and I get worn out pretty quickly, but overall I feel great. The other day I had a random bout of morning sickness for the first time in months, but it was a one time thing and it reminded me how glad I am the first trimester is well behind me! If anything, my main symptom is just getting bigger and bigger, which makes things like breathing and getting up and down a bit more difficult.
Showing: Yep
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out: Out, I guess. It still looks like the end of a balloon in my opinion.
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off, which is good because I tried to put them back on just to see if they'd fit and there was no way! I'm glad I took them off when I did!
Most looking forward to: I have my first baby shower on Saturday!!! I can't believe it's already time for showers. This pregnancy has flown by!
Milestones: I'm 75% done! It's crazy to think that I'll be holding my baby in a mere 10 weeks (give or take about 2 weeks). I'm getting so excited for him to be here already!

29 Weeks

How Far Along: 29 weeks. I can't believe I have known about this baby for 25 weeks and we only have 11 weeks to go! It feels like it's flying by!
Total Weight Gain: 29 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Even my maternity clothes are starting to get snug at this point. I have a feeling that for the last few weeks I will live in underwear and oversized t-shirts. Hopefully I won't have to get out much!
Sleep: What's that? Sleep has been an absolute nightmare lately. I did okay last night, but the night before I had horrible heartburn all night long and I couldn't get comfortable to save my life. I literally got about 2.5 hours of sleep that night. I really hope it's just a fluke, because I don't know how I will function if I can't sleep for the next 11 weeks. Lord knows I won't be sleeping much after he gets here, so I need to stockpile it while I can!
Stretch Marks: Nope! Hooray!
Highlight of the Week: Even though it started off rough, I was so glad I was able to meet the midwife Katie at our appointment on Thursday. She really made me feel confident about giving birth naturally and I really, really hope she is the one who delivers him.
Missing: Being comfortable.
Movement: He's still moving, but I can tell he's starting to get cramped in there. It's more big swishes across my whole belly than kicks. We know he's head down and facing my back, so when I see a big lump go across my belly know I know it's his cute little butt!
Cravings: Nothing really. Sweets maybe, but that's not unusual for me even when I'm not pregnant :)
Food Aversions: None
Symptoms: Oh let's see...heartburn, getting tired after standing up for very long, not being able to take deep breaths (especially after eating), not being able to get comfortable to sleep...
Showing: Oh yes
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope. I don't know what Braxton Hicks contractions are supposed to feel like, but I'm pretty sure I haven't had any. I think I would know if I did.
Belly Button In or Out: I guess it can be called an outie finally, but really it is just a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. (Props to anyone who knows who said that!)
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off, and I continue to miss them. I'm thinking that after I have this baby I may need to get them re-sized. I was so afraid of them falling off back when I got them that I erred on the side of too tight, and now that I'm wearing my fake one that's a little loose I like how it feels. I also am contemplating getting them unsautered together so it feels like I'm wearing two rings instead of just one. We shall see...
Most looking forward to: My baby showers! I'm also really excited about the breast feeding class and childbirth class Jason and I are taking this week. We get to go on a tour of the labor and delivery area of the hospital and I think it will ease my mind to know what it's like in there.
Milestones: According to What To Expect, he weighs just under 3 pounds and is about 17 inches long!

August Lately...

The past few weeks have been busy around our house. The good kind of busy, mostly!

First of all, as I mentioned in my 27 weeks post, we got a van! It's a 2007 Honda Odyssey Touring and it is pretty snazzy if I do say so myself. It's got a DVD player, a back up camera, built in navigation, a cool storage area in the floor that has a lazy susan in it, and lot of other nifty things that Jason knows how to work and I don't because he actually read the manual. I'm counting on him to teach me because I don't have the patience for manuals :) I currently drive a 1999 Camry (lovingly named Linda Peggy), which is a great little car, but it doesn't come close to having all the bells and whistles that the van has. I feel like I am piloting a spaceship when I drive the van! Plus, on the more practical side, it is SO much more convenient to get the car seat in and out of. Basically, I love it!

Do I look like a girl who's excited to be a mama or what? We're ready for you now, little buddy!

(Sidenote: If you're looking for a 1999 Camry, I know a girl who'd sell you one!)

In other news, my 23rd birthday was on Saturday! Jason had surgery on Thursday to fix a small hernia, so we celebrated at home with our moms, my brother and my grandmother. Mom brought over Thai Smile and homemade cake pops (yum!) and Jason's mom made some brownies and brought flowers to brighten up our kitchen :) I had a really good day being with family and the best birthday gift of all was my healthy, healing husband! I was nervous about him having surgery (even though it was a simple, quick procedure), so I was beyond happy that it was over with and had gone well.

Happy birthday to me!

Here's us in the hospital after his surgery. He was pretty sleepy!

Somehow, he managed to look good even in the hospital gown, but I told him not to expect the same from me when I'm in the hospital giving birth in a few months! :) While surgery was stressful for me (and I know it wasn't fun for him), I did have a really happy moment when he was first starting to come out of the anesthesia. It was taking longer than expected, so they called me on the waiting room phone to tell me not to worry and to let me talk to him. The very first thing he said was, "Hi dear; I love you." Naturally, he doesn't remember, but it made me so happy to know that's the first thing that came to his mind :)

28 Weeks

How Far Along: 28 weeks
Total Weight Gain: I only gained one pound this week! That puts me at 27 pounds total. I have 12 more weeks and only want to gain 8 more pounds max...we'll see how that goes.
Maternity Clothes: Nothing new to report here. I'm ready for the weather to cool down so I can start rotating in some of my long sleeved tops and sweaters.
Sleep: I'm doing marginally better in this category. Jason had to sleep downstairs on the couch after his surgery, but now that he's back in the bed I sleep better because I'm not worried about him.
Stretch Marks: Hallelujah! I've made it to the third trimester without a single one! I'm hoping I'll get lucky and avoid them altogether!
Highlight of the Week: I turned 23 on Saturday! Happy birthday to me! You know you are getting old when you are excited about ordering floor mats for your van with your birthday money :) (But really, I can't wait for them to come in.) Jason was still recovering on my birthday, so we just had a little impromptu get together at our house with my mom, my brother, my granny and his mom. It was a good day.
Missing: Nothing really. If I had to pick something I'd say I miss being able to move quickly, since it takes me a while to get up. It's really sinking in that I only have 12 more weeks left with my baby inside me and I want to soak it all in before he's born and the madness begins.
Movement: He's still my little karate kid. It doesn't hurt though and I really like to feel him move, which he does pretty much 24/7 these days.
Cravings: None really.
Food Aversions: Never had them and don't think I ever will.
Symptoms: No symptoms really, other than that I feel enormous. I feel like my belly (and ta-tas) are collapsing in on me when I sit down for too long, so I have to lean back to keep them from suffocating me!
Showing: Yep
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out: Mostly out, but the innermost part is still holding on for dear life.
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off :( I could probably still wear them, but I don't want to risk it. I still try them on about once a week to evaluate the situation.
Most looking forward to: I'm most looking forward to my first baby shower in Owensboro. It's just 18 days away!
Milestones: I'm definitely in the third trimester now! Only 12 weeks to go!

***For those of you who have been following along with my gestational diabetes saga, I have to take the 1 hour test again on Thursday. I passed at my 24 week appointment, but since I was close and it was early they are having me take it again. Please say a prayer that I will pass it again because I don't want to have to take the 3 hour test!

27 Weeks

How Far Along: 27 weeks
Total Weight Gain: I'm up 26 pounds as of this morning. I'm still hoping and praying to not go over 35, but we shall see.
Maternity Clothes: My aunt sent me some dresses that will be great for work, so I'm very thankful!
Sleep: I'm still doing pretty well as far as sleep goes. I can tell that my energy is starting to wane though. I'm not exhausted like I was in the first trimester, but I get physically worn out faster now.
Stretch Marks: Still none!
Highlight of the Week: We bought a van! It's a 2007 Honda Odyssey Touring and I love it! It makes me feel like I'm officially a mom now that I  have what I like to call my "mama mini." It's been fun playing with all the cool features and learning how to use everything. Most importantly though, I'm glad we now have a vehicle we can fit Sawyer's car seat into comfortably and safely, as well as another car seat once he (hopefully) has a brother or sister.
Missing: I'm not missing much these days. I'm trying to focus on enjoying the rest of my pregnancy.
Movement: He's crazy in there! I can feel arms and legs and knees and elbows and who knows what else trying to escape straight through my stomach. Sometimes it feels like he just gets fed up with being squished in there, so he tries to stretch out as far as he can!
Cravings: I don't really have any. I've been chewing a lot of cinnamon gum lately if that counts. It's mainly in an effort to eat less candy though ;)
Food Aversions: Never had them and don't think I ever will.
Symptoms: Just getting worn out quicker than I used to. It's also hard to get comfortable, especially after I eat when my full tummy is competing with Sawyer for room.
Showing: Yep
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out: The crater is getting closer and closer to becoming a full blown outie. Stay tuned...
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off, and I miss them. The fake one looks fine, but it's just not the same.
Most looking forward to: My birthday is on Saturday!
Milestones: Depending on which book you read, I'm in my third trimester now! I'm counting it!
