One year down...LOTS more to go!

Last weekend, Jason and I celebrated our first year of wedded bliss!
Saturday we went on a date to Boyd Orchard's, PF Chang's and Build-A-Bear, and then Sunday we ate the top layer of our wedding cake, which was surprisingly edible! It was a fantastic weekend, and it was SO nice to spend quality date time with my husband before the wee one arrives.

Boyd Orchard's
Neither of us had ever been there, but I stumbled upon their website and found out that they were having a Scarecrow Festival the weekend of our anniversary. I love all things fall, so it was right up my alley! They had hayrides, a corn maze, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, some cool slides, a fun looking playground, a petting zoo, live music, and a cute store complete with a snack bar type thing where I got a very delicious apple cider slushie :)

After the orchard, we headed to Lexington to do something I had been wanting to do for months...make our little guy a teddy bear! I have these hopes and dreams that it will be his most treasured toy, since we made it for him, but I'm sure he will end up preferring some McDonald's toy...oh well! It was so special to pick out the bear we wanted to make, help stuff him, and send our good wishes for Sawyer to the little heart we put inside the bear before he was all sewed up. Once he was ready, we brushed his fur out, dressed him in a sweet little red pocket tee, and named him Henry :) I can't wait for Sawyer to play with him!

Finally, after Henry the bear was safely tucked away back in the car, Jason and I had dinner at the same restaurant he took me to on our very first date: PF Chang's. It was romantic to think about how the times have changed since that day three years ago. I wonder what we would have thought if someone had come up to us and told us that in three years time we'd be back at PF Chang's celebrating our first anniversary and 34 weeks pregnant!

On Sunday, the celebration continued! We ate a piece of our wedding cake and drank the last bottle of Ale 8 that was saved from the same package as the ones we used to toast with.

It was fun doing those traditional first anniversary things, but my favorite part was looking at our wedding album and reading over our vows. It's so important to remember the promises we made to each other and as a person whose love language is words of affirmation, it meant a lot to me.

Our first anniversary was absolutely wonderful and I am so looking forward to all the years to come...
especially as our family grows!

34 Weeks

How Far Along: 34 weeks
Total Weight Gain: Oh darn, I forgot to weigh myself this morning!
Maternity Clothes: I have come to the sad realization that some of the long sleeved shirts I've been waiting to wear don't fit :( The weather is finally getting cooler, but my belly is too big! I figure I just have to look presentable for a few more weeks until I stop working and then it's anything goes!
Sleep: I'm so uncomfortable. There is no sleep position that doesn't hurt, so it's a lost cause at this point.
Stretch Marks: Still none, praise the Lord!
Highlight of the Week: Sunday was our 1st anniversary! I love that we've been married for a year now and I had such a good time celebrating with Jason. On Saturday, we went to the Scarecrow Festival at Boyd Orchards, made Sawyer a Build-A-Bear (that I hope becomes his favorite stuffed animal--no pressure), and ate dinner at PF Chang's, which is where we ate after our first date almost exactly 3 years ago. Then on Sunday we ate the top layer of our wedding cake, drank the bottle of Ale-8 I saved from our toasts, looked at our wedding album, and read over our vows again. It was a perfect weekend and I am thrilled that I've been Mrs. Hyatt for a whole year! I love my husband SO much!
Missing: I really don't miss much, aside from not hurting. There's a really, really sore spot on my ribs, so I miss the days when I didn't have that to deal with.
Movement: Still going strong! Lack of space is of no concern to him; he will just shove things out of his way!
Cravings: The usual, milk and fall flavored things.
Food Aversions: None
Symptoms: The sore spot on the top of my ribs on my right side hurts SO BAD. It hurts 24/7 and there's nothing I can do to make it go away. Sorry if it's TMI, but wearing a bra is unbelievably painful because the wire/band of it rubs directly on the sore spot all day long. By the end of the day it's somehow numb and incredibly tender at the same time. That's definitely my worst symptom, but I also get winded easily and my feet swell if I stand up for a long time.
Showing: Yep
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out: Out
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off
Most looking forward to: Next week, because we've got 3 baby showers! Jason's office is throwing us one, the ladies that I work with are having a little lunch mini shower for me, and then the shower my friend Julia has been planning for the church ladies is on Sunday. I can't wait! I feel like there is so much we still need, so I'm hoping I will feel more at ease after the rest of my showers.
Milestones: According to one of my apps, his organs are all functioning now and all he's got to do is fatten up and get locked and loaded for delivery. He should be "dropping" very soon if he hasn't already.

The Happiest Day: A Year Later

As of yesterday, Jason and I have been married for ONE WHOLE YEAR! Since I wasn't blogging much then, I figured now would be a good time to share some of my favorite photos from our wedding day.

FYI: This is going to be a photo heavy post!

Before the Ceremony

Our wedding day was one of the happiest days of my life and this past year has been the best by far! I will never forget that feeling after the wedding was over and we were home, once it really set in that we were married. It was such good, happy, sense of calm. And now, one year later, we love each other deeper every day and are getting ready to become a family of three in just about 6 weeks! I am beyond thankful that the Lord blessed me with the privilege to be Jason's wife and I can't wait to see him in his new role as a father. I have an inkling that my heart will just overflow with love once I see my sweet baby boy in my husband's arms!

*****next up: a post about our 1st anniversary celebration*****

33 Weeks

How Far Along: 33 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 37 pounds. Holy cow.
Maternity Clothes: Same old, same old. I'm glad for the cooler weather because I can start wearing my long sleeve tops without burning up!
Sleep: It is what it is. I'm finding that I get really tired in the afternoons, so if I get the chance I take a nap just about every day.
Stretch Marks: I thought I saw one and I panicked, but it turned out just to be an indention from a crease on my pants. Whew!
Highlight of the Week: I had my second baby shower on Sunday :)
Missing: Being skinny :( I try to remember the first trimester when I was so anxious to be showing!
Movement: He's into rolling around lately. I think the days of sharp jabs are about over since he's probably running out of real estate in there.
Cravings: Just milk as usual.
Food Aversions: Nah, not really.
Symptoms: Exhaustion is rearing its ugly head again, which is rather inconvenient considering all the nesting  I still need to do!
Showing: Yep
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out: Out
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off
Most looking forward to: Our first anniversary is Sunday :)
Milestones: Not much is changing these days, other than that Sawyer is fattening up. Just 4 weeks til I'm considered full term!

32 Weeks

How Far Along: 32 weeks
Total Weight Gain: I didn't weigh myself this morning. If I don't know, I don't feel bad about not telling you all. If I know but don't tell I feel like I'm not being a very authentic blogger. So, I just decided not to find out this week!
Maternity Clothes: I broke down and got some maternity leggings on sale at Motherhood this past weekend. I am so looking forward to wearing them ALL THE TIME for these last 8 weeks!
Sleep: Nothing new to report. Still uncomfortable and still waking up to pee every night.
Stretch Marks: Thankfully, no. I will feel so much better about gaining 5,743 pounds if I can do so without getting stretch marks.
Highlight of the Week: This past weekend was pretty good. I went shopping with my mom on Friday and then Jason and I lounged around Saturday at home. Saturday evening Jason's mom and our niece and nephew came over for dinner, so it was good to spend time with them. Also, I think this was more than a week ago, but we decorated our porch with mums and a scarecrow :) I love fall!
Missing: I miss being able to wear my old clothes because I'm starting to get sick of wearing the same things over and over again. Otherwise, I'm too excited to meet my baby to miss much!
Movement: He's a mover and a shaker! It's mostly big ol' rolling movements with the occasional punch to my hips. He also is fond of lodging his foot under my ribs on my right side. I'm constantly sore in that one spot.
Cravings: Pumpkin flavored things :) I am so glad it is finally starting to feel like fall! Milk remains a constant, because it helps with my heartburn.
Food Aversions: I'm starting to avoid things that I can tell give me heartburn, such as Taco Bell.
Symptoms: Heartburn is the main issue lately. It shoots all the way through to my back!
Showing: Oh yeah. There is no hiding him!
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope. I still haven't had any Braxton Hicks contractions or anything.
Belly Button In or Out: Out
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off
Most looking forward to: My baby shower on Sunday! I can't wait to see everyone and celebrate Sawyer's upcoming arrival!
Milestones: Just 8 more weeks! And according to our midwife at our appointment last Tuesday afternoon, little buddy already tips the scales at about 5 pounds. Looks like we may have ourselves a big boy!

31 Weeks

How Far Along: 31 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 33 pounds
Maternity Clothes: They're starting to get pretty tight. I have seven more weeks of work left, so I just need them to hold out that much longer. The problem is I'm just not sure they're going to fit for seven more weeks!
Sleep: Eh, it is what it is. It's not great by any means, but it's not terrible either. It's just really hard to get comfortable.
Stretch Marks: Nothing yet...
Highlight of the Week: My first baby shower was on Saturday, so that was a lot of fun! My aunt Susan hosted it in Owensboro for my mom's side of the family. It was good to see everyone and we got a lot of cute and useful things! I also had a good day yesterday since it was Labor Day and Jason and I were off work. We got to sleep in and then I got a lot of stuff accomplished off my to do list, which makes me feel somewhat more prepared for Sawyer to get here. The BEST THING EVER though is that I found out I don't have gestational diabetes!!! Praise the Lord! Thank you all for keeping me in your prayers!
Missing: Being skinny, being able to breathe, being able to move like a normal person, being able to sleep however I want, being able to go outside for more than 5 minutes without getting puffy, etc. I know I should enjoy this time of being pregnant, but it is really starting to get tough. I just cannot get comfortable no matter what I do.
Movement: He is one wiggly little dude. I'm glad though because it reminds me that he is doing well!
Cravings: None, other than my usual love of milk.
Food Aversions: None
Symptoms: Mainly just discomfort, with occasional heartburn.
Showing: Yep
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out: Out
Wedding Rings On or Off: Off, and even my fake one gets tight if I'm outside for very long.
Most looking forward to: Having this baby! Aside from that, I'm counting down the days til my last day of work because even though I don't have a difficult job, it's just so uncomfortable to try to squeeze myself into my maternity clothes and spend 8 hours at my desk every day.
Milestones: He weighs about 3 1/2 pounds now!
