38 Weeks

Weight Gain: I chose not to torture myself by weighing this week. I will probably wait to see what the total damage is when I go into labor.
Maternity Clothes: I'm currently living in my maternity tanks and a pair of yoga shorts. Our washing machine is broken and won't be fixed til tomorrow, so I've had to get creative this week.
Stretch Marks: None
Highlight of the Week: This weekend we went to the Easter egg hunt at Buffalo Trace! Sawyer really seemed to enjoy it and I am looking forward to taking both boys next year :)
Missing: Being able to sleep on my back.
Movement: Not as many big movements, but lots of shifting around. He is extremely low, so there's not a lot of space for him to move around considering his head is pretty much locked and loaded.
Cravings: My biggest craving recently has been Reese's Pieces eggs which I happen to be snacking on right this minute :)
Symptoms: Lots of pressure. Like I said, he's really low!
Showing: Yes
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: As of my last appointment on Tuesday at 37+4 I was up to 2cm dilated, still 50% effaced and baby was at a -1 station. I think he is probably close to a 0 station now though because of how much pressure I've been feeling. We'll find out on Thursday at my next appointment!
Belly Button: Out
Wedding Rings: Off, which really affects me emotionally for some reason. They mean a lot to me and I hate not being able to wear them.
Most Looking Forward To: At this point I am just looking forward to meeting this little guy! I am so anxious to know what he looks like and to have  his sweet, tiny little hands wrapped around my finger :) I can't lie though, I'm also looking forward to UK winning the national championship!
Milestones: I've hit the "when are you going to have that baby/are you STILL pregnant" phase of my pregnancy. It drives me nuts because while technically I could have him any time, I could also have 4 whole weeks left.

37 Weeks (Early Term)

Weight Gain: +40
Maternity Clothes: I have 2 pair of jeans that are still manageable but I mostly live in my leggings. I am looking forward to being able to wear regular clothes again, although I know once I can I will wish for maternity clothes!
Stretch Marks: None
Highlight of the Week: This week was a really great week. A friend of mine from church invited me over to her home to talk about birthing babies and it was such an encouragement to hear her natural birth stories. It made me feel like I can do it! Plus it was just really nice to get out of the house and spend time with her. Also, Jason and I met with our doula, Elizabeth, on Thursday and it too was extremely encouraging. I am so excited to go into labor!
Missing: Being able to sleep on my back.
Movement: Tons of movement! Honestly it is starting to get pretty uncomfortable!
Cravings: Still drinking a lot of milk. I crave McDonald's breakfast too, but I try not to give in too often.
Symptoms: Being large! Sitting up straight for a long time is hard to do if I'm not at least slightly reclined, so sitting through church is tough. On the other hand though, my feet and hands get swollen if I stand for too long, so I usually have to sit during the songs.
Showing: Yes
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: As of my last appointment on Tuesday at 36+4 I was just over 1 centimeter dilated and almost 50% effaced! I know numbers can be tricky, but I'm really hoping that I won't go over this time! I also started losing some of my mucus plug on Friday and Saturday. (Sorry to those of you who got more information than you wanted just now!)
Belly Button: Out
Wedding Rings: Off
Most Looking Forward To: Easter egg hunts! We have 2 to go to this year and I think Sawyer will really enjoy it, assuming the baby doesn't surprise us and come early :)
Milestones: Now that I am 37 weeks I am considered "early term." At 39 weeks I will be "full term."

36 Weeks

Weight Gain: I forgot to weigh this morning, so I'm not sure, but I was up 35 pounds last I checked. I feel absolutely massive.
Maternity Clothes: I hate to wear anything other than my panties and a big t-shirt, so getting dressed for church or to go out anywhere is a chore. If you see me with pants on, consider yourself lucky!
Sleep: Not great. I toss and turn all night long trying to get comfortable and lately I've been waking up twice to use the bathroom instead of just once.
Stretch Marks: None
Highlight of the Week: We had a bunch of snow these past two weeks, so Jason had to stay home from work a couple of days, which was a nice change of pace. We also got the chance to take some maternity pictures with the snow as a backdrop, which was fun. I really like how they turned out too! Also, we finished the nursery! The nursery has the baby's monogram on the wall, so I'm going to wait until after he is born and his name is announced to post photos of it.
Missing: Nothing really.
Movement: I'm happy to report that he has flipped! He is now head down and ready to go. He doesn't move quite as often as before, but I think that's because he is getting cramped. When he does move though it is big jabs!
Cravings: candy
Symptoms: getting worn out physically by everyday things like doing laundry, doing dishes, getting ready in the morning, etc.
Showing: Yes
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: As of my last appointment at 35 weeks and 4 days, I was a half centimeter dilated, 25% effaced, and my cervix was soft. I am thrilled to already be showing some progress!
Belly Button: Out
Wedding Rings: Off, although I did wear them for my maternity pictures.
Most Looking Forward To: Lately I have been really anxious to see what he looks like, so I'm really looking forward to finding out when he is born!
Milestones: Less than one month to go!

March 01, 2015

34 Weeks

Weight Gain: +35 I had hoped to gain less this time around, but it looks like I am staying right on track with my last pregnancy. It's a bit frustrating, but I am trying not to get too bent out of shape over it.
Maternity Clothes: It is certainly uncomfortable to wear jeans or anything else restrictive for long periods of time, but I am thankful that I have clothes that fit and that I like.
Sleep: I've been having nightmares lately, so that's no fun. I still wake up to use the bathroom at least once a night and I still wake up a few times to take a sip from my trusty Tervis tumbler as well. The newest addition to my nights is my consumption of Tums. I am so used to the bathroom, water and Tums breaks at this point though that they don't really bother me, so I am actually sleeping pretty well.
Stretch Marks: None, and I am extremely grateful. Like I said last time, the weight gain doesn't bother me as much if I can manage to avoid stretch marks.
Highlight of the Week: These past two weeks haven't been bad or anything, but nothing stands out as a highlight either. Sawyer got to play in the snow for the first time, I started a Bible reading plan, and the final piece of the nursery d├ęcor came in, so those all brightened my day. To be honest the highlights are more little things though like when Sawyer gives me kisses when he wakes up :)
Missing: Part of me misses being about 20-30 weeks pregnant when I clearly looked pregnant but wasn't quite so large and uncomfortable. But on the other hand, I am happy to be just 6 weeks or so away from meeting my second son, so I wouldn't want to go back!
Movement: I believe he may have flipped, but I will have to wait until Tuesday to find out at my appointment with my midwife. He is still moving plenty, but I don't feel his head in my ribs like I used to. I have been experiencing "lightning crotch" (yes, that's a real term!) as well, which is a sign that the baby might be dropping and putting pressure on the nerves in my pelvis.
Cravings: same old, same old
Symptoms: heartburn still, overexerting myself and getting exhauseted
Showing: Yes
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: None
Belly Button: Out
Wedding Rings: Off--they actually do still fit, but I only wear them on special occasions just in case
Most Looking Forward To: Assuming my breech baby flips, I am actually really looking forward to labor. I know what to expect this time around and I feel much more prepared. I am excited to give natural birth another try!
Milestones: 34 weeks! They say that once you hit 34 weeks, your baby has an excellent chance of being completely fine if it were born right this minute. The baby would have to spend a little time in the NICU, but would most likely end up with no long term health impairments. While I don't expect this one to come early, I am happy to know that if he did he would probably be okay.
